Molotov cocktails, clashes with the police and a lack of imagination: What happened in the three hours of DP's 'civil disobedience'

Clashes with the police and chaos, this was the panorama of the opposition protest this Monday.

The absence of Sali Berisha, who is under house arrest, showed once again that the Democratic Party lacks scripts and that this time the rally was the same as the previous ones.

Flamur Noka, the general secretary of the DP, and Gazment Bardhi, the head of the DP group, came out of the blue headquarters and marched towards the boulevard "Dëshmorët e Kombit".

The protest announced at 18:00 started late, while a group of supporters waited in front of the Prime Minister's Office, where the start of the protest had been announced.

On the other hand, Ilir Meta marched from the headquarters of the Freedom Party, but did not see Monika Kryemadhi.

But the lack of scripts, and the lack of ideas in how this rally was planned, brought the first clash between the protesters and the police.

Protesters threw pyrotechnics and Molotov cocktails at the government building, while others set off firecrackers.

A decorative tree caught fire as well as the area in front of the Prime Minister's Office. The fire was extinguished after the intervention of the firemen, while the protesters, unable to break the cord of the blue uniforms, marched towards the SP headquarters. The march is the same as last time.

Upon arriving at the house of the socialists, the protesters burned a banner with the portrait of Prime Minister Rama and threw Molotov cocktails. 

The next destination was the town hall, where the police responded to the Molotov cocktails with tear gas and pepper spray, as well as throwing water to disperse the crowd.

Without speeches and in silence, the democrats under the leadership of the PD leaders and deputies continued the march in the streets of Tirana. They stopped in front of the Assembly, where the police, after the tensions, threw tear gas at them in order to disperse the crowd.

After a few minutes, the protesters left, while the General Secretary of the DP, Flamur Noka, said that this was only the first step of civil disobedience.

10 police officers were injured in the rally, while the first escorts of the protesters have started.
