The group of prosecutors in Durrës is investigating a major scandal related to the export of suspected toxic waste.

Several samples of materials were seized from the companies Kurum and Sokolaj shpk, which were sent for laboratory expertise to determine their composition and to verify if they are the same as those loaded in the 102 containers that were headed for Thailand.

These containers are returning to the Port of Durrës after the host country did not give approval for accepting the cargo.

The prosecution has seized the containers and will carry out the necessary analyzes to further investigate the case.

Meanwhile, the prosecutors are continuing with the questioning of the persons who have knowledge of the case and who were involved in the export procedures.

The Sokolaj company, with administrator Gjovana Sokolaj, is the one that carried out the export of suspected toxic waste, which it bought from the Kurum company.

This case is being investigated for allegations of abuse of duty and transportation of hazardous waste, and under investigation are customs officials, as well as representatives of Kurum and Sokolaj companies.
