The Special Prosecutor's Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime announced the cancellation of the 4 million euro tender for the construction of the new building.
According to the documents published in the Public Notices Bulletin, SPAK says that the reason for the cancellation was because no offer was submitted.
The tender for the construction of the new SPAK building was announced in August. The limit fund was predetermined at 395.3 million ALL or almost 4 million euros, Kapital writes .
This building is located next to the existing SPAK building. Previously, it was owned by the Municipality of Tirana as it was planned to serve the central offices of the Waterworks.
But then, the government handed it over to the Special Prosecutor's Office to build the new premises.
For this reason, Erion Veliaj publicly declared after the call to SPAK that the Municipality has very good relations with colleagues of SPAK because it had given them the premises.
However, SPAK's first attempt to tender the reconstruction of the building and its adaptation into office space has failed as no company has submitted a bid. This is not the only SPAK tender that fails.
In the past SPAK has also canceled many other tenders, always with the argument of non-submission of offers. Apparently nobody wants Duman's money, or Albanian companies don't like doing business with SPAK.
The Special Prosecutor's Office announced that it will take the necessary measures to restart the procurement procedure with the object: " Construction and reconstruction for the new SPAK building ".
