The most recent case of attempted cannabis trafficking by mail from the USA was ( March 29, 2024 ), when the Police seized 3.2 kilograms of cannabis, for which 24-year-old Jurgest Luzi and 27-year-old Skënder Vata were arrested.

The administrator of the Albanian Post, Ardit Demiri, told VoxNews that the cases arrested by the State Police were not caught by the institution he leads.

"The 4 cases that were caught by the police did not happen in the offices of the Albanian post office, but in private post offices", the administrator of the Albanian post office told VoxNews.

The traffickers had used the clothing trade as camouflage. After receiving the information, Antidrug of Tirana started investigations for the red-handed arrest of the perpetrators of drug trafficking.

The Anti-Drug Agents posed as postal workers, delivering the package to the customers and arresting the traffickers in the act.

Security expert, Bashkim Selmani, has said that drug trafficking through the mail is a widespread phenomenon and the institutions are only remembered when the US and the EU catch them.

 "Currently in Albania, even in social networks where the trade of various goods takes place and the post office is very active, but at the same time I am very convinced that this form is now very active. The post office is protected by privacy, as the package is forbidden to be opened, and this is exactly what was used," said the expert.
