An employee of a tailoring factory in Kavaja has denounced to VoxNews a practice that, according to her, is unfairly burdening over 100 workers of the company "Remal shpk".
According to the complaint, until now transportation to the workplace has been organized and covered by the factory.
But in a recent meeting, employees were informed that starting immediately, each of them must pay 100 lek per day for the same transportation service, which is considered necessary to get to work.
The employee states that this amount will be deducted directly from the monthly salary, causing real income to fall below the minimum wage level, which according to her makes any formal salary "increase" invalid in practice.
"My colleagues and I have been working at this factory for a long time. Transportation has been paid for by the company. Now we are asked to pay 100 lek per day, otherwise we cannot use the work bus. This is unfair and contradicts the Labor Code and the law on minimum wage," she says.
According to her, on the 23rd, some employees returned their travel money after being notified of the new payment and refused to use the company bus, finding alternative ways to get to work.
However, they were also asked to pay for January's transportation, with the argument that they used the bus during that month.
"It is absurd to ask us for the January money, when the decision was made later," the complaint states.
The employees are requesting the intervention of responsible institutions and an inspection by the Labor Inspectorate , requesting that any verification be carried out anonymously, as they express fear of retaliation or consequences in the workplace.
