Six children from one of the kindergartens in Korça were reported to have been poisoned and hospitalized with vomiting symptoms, due to food.

The parent of one of the affected children told the media that the number of affected children could be three times higher than initially reported.

"I don't know the exact number, but I think it could be around 20 children. From what I heard from all the parents who asked, some of us were in a state where we received treatment in the hospital, but everyone showed symptoms, some milder, some more severe, but almost everyone showed symptoms. Some even showed symptoms the next day," said Koço Xexo about the epidemic.

Meanwhile, Xexo has also revealed the food menu that poisoned the children of Korça. Specifically, it is learned that the children ate in kindergarten: bread with eggs for breakfast and pilaf, chicken and yogurt for lunch.

"The doctor at least did a full analysis on my son because he was a little worried at first and it turned out that he had food poisoning, he told me, he suspected it. Meanwhile, the analysis also showed that he had high white blood cells, which indicated that he had more difficulty in his body from this work, from the poisoning," the parent adds.

As for the kindergarten director, who is under investigation for allegedly failing to fulfill her obligations to control the food served to the children, Xexo says she has "disappeared."

Instead of facing justice and the parents of the children who were poisoned by her and the kindergarten staff's negligence, the director with the initials MK does not answer the parents' calls.

Koço Xexos' full speech to the media:

We picked up the child from kindergarten around 1:30, which is when the part of the day when children are awake ends. At the moment, he told us that he had a little stomach discomfort, but in the cases of such young children, it is something they say more often. Then he slept, calmed down, and when he got up, he got up right away and vomited. The vomiting started, became more periodic and more frequent later, and we reached the stage that seemed very worrying because the child almost lost all strength, he became very pale and it became very worrying.

And we left at that moment for the Korça hospital where we received treatment. My son was a little more advanced, he received a little more complete treatment, while discussing with other parents we heard that this had happened almost massively to all the children. Some with milder symptoms, some with more severe symptoms. As far as I could see, they went there and somewhere to 5-6 other children who were treated in the hospital.

The children, according to the boy, had pilaf, and he also had pieces of chicken, yogurt, and he had eaten bread and eggs for breakfast.

The doctor at least gave my son a full blood count because he was a little worried at first and it turned out he had food poisoning, he told me, he suspected it. Meanwhile, the tests also showed that he had high white blood cells, which indicated that he had more difficulty in his body from this work, from the poisoning.

Then we also received other treatments for the house when we took him out. We may have stayed over 5-6 hours in the hospital and we saw that the situation improved a little. We also received some other treatments, he also had a slight fever at dinner, but as the hours passed there was some relief. We were unable to get any contact from the director or any of the parents, while the kindergarten group educator appeared concerned, interested, came to the hospital premises, taking an interest in all the children. She did what she was competent to do, since she has nothing more to do, while we received almost no contact from other parts of the kindergarten.

Many parents tried to call the principal several times and got no answer from the phone. No, she didn't pick up at all. From what we heard from those ladies. Then if anyone else managed to contact her, I don't know, but a large part of us parents who were there were unable to get in touch. First, we need to see what the problem was, to better understand what the problem was with the children, and then, of course, when the appropriate measures are taken, we will try to bring her back.

I don't know the exact number, but I think it could be around 20 children. From what I heard from all the parents who asked, some of us were in a state where we received treatment in the hospital, but everyone showed symptoms, some milder, some more severe, but almost everyone showed symptoms. Some even showed symptoms the next day.

I don't believe it could be something intentional, or it could be something from carelessness or from the control of the first products that are taken. The thing is that they are very young children and such situations put a lot of strain on their bodies and to be honest in the first moments we were a little scared about everything that happened. So we ask that at least the care be a little higher, especially with children, and that the controls be increased a little more or the responsibility of people who are close to children, because they are almost defenseless at their age.
