Albania has attracted the attention of foreign tourists year after year, due to its beautiful beaches, mountainous landscapes, climate and historical centers, leading to a tourism boom of 10.1 million visitors last year. Cheap prices in relation to European countries as well as gastronomy are also among the main elements of increasing interest. In addition to the benefits of the economy as a whole, the accommodation structures, the food industry has benefited significantly from the tourism boom, causing producers to sell their products and being encouraged to expand the planted areas. The growing number of tourists, which this year is expected to reach 14 million, puts pressure on manufacturers to offer more in order to cope. The Minister of Agriculture, Anila Denaj, has announced that the consumption is expected to reach 1.2 billion dollars, which is a significant figure for this industry and translates into increased income for thousands of rural families and businesses.
"I want to remember here that 980 million dollars of food supply as a result of 10.5 million tourists, maybe 14 million tourists this year will bring the pressure of food supply to 1.2 billion dollars, let's not leave without attention and the conditions and standards of quality for the domestic market.
Starting with the way in which all the institutions responsible for the analyzes are accredited, and here I want to draw attention to the indisputable work that ISUV does. Beyond the fact and the objective that 4300 analyzes cannot be accredited in Albania within a very short period of time, yes 1300 are.
On the other hand, create a support and a guide for all businesses how to go towards the accreditation of these processes in order to work in two directions, on the one hand the legislative part with laws, the executive part with infrastructure and business with access to appropriate investments and appropriate protocols and thus ultimately benefit the consumer and the Made in Albania product" declared the Minister of Agriculture, Anila Denaj.
During the meeting of the National Integration Council where the progress of completing reforms for EU membership was discussed, Minister Denaj also said that the goal is also to increase exports of Albanian products and their penetration into elite markets. The value of exports at the end of 2023 reached 570 million Euros with an increase of almost 64.5 million Euros from one year to another.
