The Council of Ministers today approved the decision to establish the Albanian Development Bank , a financial institution that will serve to promote economic development by supporting underfunded sectors with funds.
In a statement to the media, following the government meeting, the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Business Climate, Delina Ibrahimaj, announced that this institution was created based on the best experiences of similar institutions in the EU.
"It aims to finance the development of physical and digital infrastructure, support small and medium-sized enterprises, finance infrastructure projects and also support Albanian exports," Ibrahimaj said.
Among other things, the minister emphasized, it will provide additional opportunities to increase access to finance for that part of the population unserved by the banking sector, or located in rural areas, through savings products that will be collected and used for the economic development of the country.
The draft law was drafted in collaboration with "Cassa Depositi e Prestiti", the leading institution in the EU for providing financing with concrete results in economic development in the Italian market.
"It also aims to cooperate with EU international financial institutions that have funds available directed towards member countries and those in the EU accession process, with the aim of increasing productivity, competitiveness and facilitating entry into the EU market," Ibrahimaj declared.
