In total, Silvio Berlusconi has five children from whom 16 grandchildren were born. Marina and Pier Silvio are the children born from the union between the leader of Forza Italia and Carla Elvira Lucia Dall'Oglio, while Barbara, Eleonora and the youngest Luigi are the children of Silvio Berlusconi and Veronica Larios.
If we consider only the perimeter of the parent company "Fininvest", which in turn owns 50% of the capital of the "Mediaset" group, 30% of "Mediolanum" and 53% of the publishing house "Mondadori", the five children of Berlusconi have consolidated shareholders' capital at the end of 2021.
The most recent data available was 4.89 billion euros. Each of the five children transparently owns a 7.65% stake in parent company Fininvest, of which 61.3% is owned by founder Silvio Berlusconi, whose stake is just €3.14 billion on a net worth reference basis.
Heirs of "Cavalier"
On the other hand, the estate picture attributes to the five first-generation heirs a share of the net assets with a total value of about 1.750 billion dollars and the equivalent of 350 million for each child.
Then there is the "patrol" of 16 grandchildren, that is, the third generation, which, however, is not included in the inheritance that concerns the five children.
The eldest is Lucrezia, 35 years old, daughter of Pier Silvio and sister of Lorenzo Mattia and Sofia Valentina. Then there are the heirs of Marina Berlusconi: Gabriele, born in 2002 and Silvio in 2003.
Eleonora Berlusconi has three heirs: Riccardo, Flora and Artemisia. While her brother, Luigi, the youngest of the family, married to Federica Fumagalli, has two children: Emanuele Silvio and Tommaso Fabio, born in October 2022, who bears the second name of his maternal grandfather.
At the bottom are the children of Barbara (former president of Milan), the eldest daughter of Veronica Larios: Alessandro (born on October 30, 2007) and Edoardo (July 13, 2009), the fruit of her relationship with Giorgio Valaguzza, Leone (born on November 14, 2016), Francesco Amos (February 28, 2018) and Ettore Quinto (November 20, 2021), married to her ex-partner, Lorenzo Guerrieri. There are also great-grandchildren in the dynasty: Olivia, Lucrezia's daughter, who was the first to make Silvio Berlusconi a great-grandfather.
Much of the future of the empire built by Berlusconi will depend on his children playing different roles in the family.
"Fininvest" shares, the role of Marina and Pier Silvio
Berlusconi currently controls about 61% of "Holding Fininvest", which operates in the television, radio and cinema sectors with "Mediaset" and "Mondadori" publications.
The rest of the shares are divided as follows among the exponents of the second generation: Marina owns 7.65% of the capital of "Fininvest", of which she is also the president and runs "Mondadori".
Pier Silvio holds a similar share (7.65%) and is the man in charge of "Mediaset" in the role of CEO.
The three children Barbara (37 years old), Eleonora (36) and Luigi (35) together own 23% of "Fininvest" through the company "Holding H14", the head of their family's branch.
In practice, in transparency, the share reflects the individual shares of the three heirs equal to 7.65%, i.e. at the same level as those owned by Marina and Pier Silvio individually.
Children from the second marriage
At the moment, Eleonora, Luigi and Barbara do not have operational positions in the group, they play the role of shareholders of "Fininvest" and are on the board of directors.
In the past, Barbara Berlusconi, managing director of "Holding 14", was appointed by the board of AC Milan as vice president and managing director with responsibility for non-sporting social functions.
Experience that ended in 2017, after the club was sold to Chinese entrepreneur Yonghong Li and then to investment fund "Elliott".
"Holding H14" invests in venture capital and private capital, a type of activity piloted by Luigi Berlusconi to seize opportunities and support small companies that have ambitions to grow.
The most famous of his properties is in the Italian technology company "Bending Spoons".
Recently, the "Holding" company of the three brothers, "H14", was separated to isolate the manager of their personal investments from the vault that holds the shares in "Fininvest".
Safe and his associates
According to Forbes magazine's ranking of billionaires of 2023, Silvio Berlusconi was considered the third richest man in Italy with assets amounting to 6.9 billion dollars in market values.
The real vault of the Berlusconi family is "Mfe", after the transfer of the headquarters to the Netherlands and the prospects of a merger with "Mediaset España", which should be completed between the summer and autumn of 2023, it currently has 48.7% of the voting rights in the assembly .
The control is practically armored. "Mfe", the company in which the various spirits of "Mediaset" have joined, is controlled by "Fininvest" for 48.2%, with the second French shareholder Vivendi with 23.35%.
"Fininvest", on the other hand, is completely controlled by the Berlusconi family, but with a complex ownership structure: it is divided into seven "holding" companies, four of which are directly attributed to Silvio Berlusconi.
