How has the household appliances market in Albania changed in recent years and how is this market related to global trends?
The Albanian home appliance market has grown and consolidated significantly in recent years, both in terms of consumer expectations and the range of products offered. We are seeing a faster adoption of global trends such as energy efficiency, smart technology and sustainability. Consumers are more informed and their preferences are shifting from basic functionality to extra features and after-sales support. The market is no longer driven solely by price and lifestyle as convenience and long-term savings now play a much greater role in decision-making.
What are the key technological innovations that are impacting this market?
Smart devices integrated with IoT (Internet of Things), AI-driven features and energy monitoring capabilities are transforming the industry. In addition to home surveillance options that have seen a rapid increase in demand, today we have refrigerators that manage inventory and washing machines that optimize wash cycles based on the load and type of clothes, so technology is now rewriting convenience. Voice control, remote use via phone and integration into smart home ecosystems are increasingly important, many of which are already in demand and used in the Albanian market.
Do you notice a direct impact from global energy or raw material prices on the supply and demand for equipment in the country?
Absolutely. Global increases in raw material and transportation costs have had a direct impact on prices. While brands and retailers are trying to absorb some of this impact, supply chain disruptions and inflationary pressures have impacted both availability and consumer behavior. We have also seen a growing consumer interest in energy-efficient products as a long-term way to address rising energy costs.
How has Albanian consumers' behavior evolved when purchasing home appliances? Are they more inclined to invest in quality, or does price remain the main factor?
There is a clear trend towards investing in quality, especially in the mid- and high-end consumer segment. Although price remains important, it is no longer the only factor. Warranty, brand reputation, energy efficiency and product ratings are increasingly part of the decision-making process. More consumers now see an appliance as a long-term investment rather than a temporary solution. Albanian consumers base their decision on trust, and this is a core value on which retailers operate.
Is there a certain period during the year when equipment purchases increase significantly and why?
Yes, seasonal highlights include the summer, the start of the school year, and year-end campaigns like Black Friday and the holidays. These moments combine promotional offers with real consumer needs, such as preparing the house for winter to equipping it with technological innovations before the holidays. Overall, these key sales periods play a very important role in a retailer's performance and during them there is a high concentration of offers for the consumer.

Are consumers today more informed about the functionality and technology of devices, or are purchases still based primarily on advertising and recommendations?
As I mentioned earlier, consumers are significantly more informed than before. Online search, social media, and user reviews play a major role. In-store consultants and advertising continue to influence decision-making, but the average Albanian consumer now walks into a store or visits our online store with a clear idea of what they are looking for, especially when it comes to higher-value products. In addition to product features, they demand speed, accuracy, and convenience. Our main challenge is to help them meet their needs both in physical stores and online, with quality service and extra convenience that exceed expectations.
How important is the energy efficiency label for Albanian consumers when choosing an appliance?
Energy efficiency has become a major factor in consideration. With the rising cost of electricity and greater environmental awareness, consumers are now paying attention to A-rated products and understanding the value savings they represent. While the label itself may not always close the sale, it is often the decisive determining factor between two similar products.
What are the most sought-after products when it comes to savings and green technology?
Refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners are the main categories where consumers are looking for green technology. Inverter technology, low water consumption and intelligent load management are features that are influencing sales. Appliances that can be integrated with solar panel systems and heat pump dryers are also gaining ground, especially in new or renovated homes.

What is the most "underrated" household appliance in an Albanian family?
Dishwashers! Many families still see them as a luxury rather than a necessity. However, with increasing awareness of water conservation and time savings, this perception is gradually changing. The reality is that these modern appliances are more efficient in using water and energy than washing by hand.
In your opinion, which household appliance has changed people's lifestyles the most in recent years?
The TV, without a doubt, with all the benefits that smart functionalities offer today. But, when we talk about large household appliances, it is the washing machine with smart features, especially those that automatically adjust water, time and detergent. Combined with a larger washing capacity, it has significantly simplified household routines and brought more convenience to families with busy schedules. This has made washing clothes, an almost daily process, in the digital age.
