From November 1, the implementation of the decision of the Energy Regulatory Entity (ERE) for the application of increased energy prices in the peak hours of bakeries and pastry shops begins.
According to ERE's decision, the price of electricity for 4 hours of peak bread production will increase by 15%, for all three current price categories according to the type of activity of the bakery.
The change in the price of energy for peak hours at bakeries is based on point 2 of Decision no. 72, dated 15.04.2024 "On determining the sale price of electricity for the category of customers "bakery and/or flour production".
Point 2 of the decision, which has already entered into force, provides that the price of active energy in peak hours will be, as follows: Category I - Only Bakeries/Flour Production that pay 7.6 Lek/kWh in peak hours, the price of energy will be be 8.74 ALL/kWh.
Category II – Bakery, accompanying flour products, pastry from 9.5 Lek at peak hours, the price of energy will be 10.93.
Category III – Bakery, accompanying Flour Products, Patisserie, Coffee (espresso) service, the price will be from 12 Lek to 13.8 Lek/kWh.
According to the decision, the peak hour during which the price for the energy consumed at the peak will be applied is: For the period November 1 - March 31 from 18:00-22:00. For the period from 1 April to 31 October from 19:00 to 23:00.
The manufacturers claim that you have already received invoices for two-field billing. Several bakeries contacted by the Monitor claimed that the increase in the peak hour energy price increases the liability for the monthly energy bill by at least 18%. According to them, if the application starts, it is expected to affect the price of bread.
As a result, the Association of Bread, Pastries and Doughs, through letters sent to ERE and OSHEE, requested the immediate suspension of the additional fee during peak hours.
"Recently, in some bakeries, an additional energy payment fee has been applied in (Peak Hours). We reacted strongly with two letters sent to the President of ERE and the General Administrator of OSHEE and for the information of the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku.
Among other things, the decision approved by ERE in April 2024 decided the application for three different prices according to the type of activity that the subject of bakeries has.
In the decision approved by ERE for the first category, which includes "Only bakeries/flour production", the price of electricity will be 7.6 ALL/kWh.
For the second category "Bakery, accompanying flour products, pastry shop" the price will be 9.5 ALL/kWh and for the third category "Bakery, accompanying flour products, pastry shop, coffee service" the price will be 12 ALL/kWh .
Previously, according to the decision approved by ERE in 2018, only bakeries and flour production for 0.4 kV voltage paid a subsidized rate of 7.6 ALL/kWh. While for businesses with a voltage of 0.4 kV, the energy fee is 14 ALL per kWh. But despite the previous decision, currently all the bakeries in the country, regardless of the services they offered as a pastry shop or bar-café, bought energy for 7.6 Lek.
