The Tax Administration has clarified to taxpayers that it will not recognize deductions from the salary as a result of tax relief for the tax returns of 2023 and those of 2024, as these reliefs will come into force from January 1, 2025.

The law on income tax provides that taxpayers with income from salary or business can deduct from 60 thousand to 600 thousand lek per year from their income for tax purposes. But Taxes clarify that this relief will come into force on January 1 of the next year.

Likewise, the taxes clarify that the deductions for the effect of the expenses that families make for the education of their children will come into force from January 1 of the next year.

"From the above, the calculation and withholding of the Employment Income Tax, for all employees, throughout the year 2024, will continue to be carried out in the same way as until today. For the year 2024, it is not necessary to complete the declaration on personal status, according to article 66 of the new Law, according to point 3 of this article, which expressly states: "The declaration on personal status includes all the information necessary to claim deductions from income taxable according to article 22, point 1, of this law". Under the conditions that Article 22 extends its effects from January 2025, this declaration will also be completed starting from this deadline.
