This week has not started well for foreign currencies. According to the official exchange rate of the Bank of Albania, the European currency has touched its lowest historical level this Monday, and is being exchanged near the limit of 97 lekë.
Today, one euro was bought from citizens for 97.2 lekë and sold for 97.8 lekë. Compared to last year, the euro has depreciated by almost 4%.
The dollar is also on the decline, having dropped to 83 lek, so to exchange 100 dollars, you get back 8300 lek.
Tourism says the Central Bank is the main factor weakening currencies, as the increased number of foreigners in the country also increases the amount of currency in the market.
