Smokers get ready, from January 1 the price of tobacco will increase

Smokers will face new tobacco prices starting January 1, 2023.

Referring to the legal changes in the law on excises, published in the official notebook, the excise duty on tobacco will increase by an average of 250 lek per kg, which will be immediately reflected in the final sale price, by about 20-30 lek.

Specifically, excise duty on the categories of cigars and cigarillos containing tobacco; cigarettes containing tobacco; cigars, cigarillos and cigarettes with tobacco substitutes; other processed tobacco and substitutes, rolling tobacco;

Tobacco products for oral use; heated tobacco, no combustion; Shisha, hookah (mixture for smoking) ; the excise tax that will be paid from January 1, 2023 will be 7,000 ALL/kg from 6,750 ALL/kg that was applied during 2022.

Meanwhile, the excise duty on tobacco processed with tobacco leaves cultivated in Albania and Shisha, hookah (mixture for smoking) processed with tobacco leaves cultivated in Albania will be 3 thousand Lek/kg from January next year from 2750 Lek/ kg, while the excise duty for products containing liquid nicotine will be 14 ALL/ml, increasing by 2 ALL from the current year.

Meanwhile, the prices of these products are predicted to increase progressively until 2026.
