The Bank of Albania has approved a new regulation for the licensing and operation of these entities, which for the first time imposes clear restrictions on the use of physical money.
According to the amendments, licensed entities will not be allowed to hold monetary values ??on a daily basis higher than the minimum initial capital specified in the regulation.
This initiative aims to reduce the risks associated with the circulation of large amounts of cash.
Another important innovation is the establishment of a limit on physical cash transactions.
Exchange offices will not be able to conduct exchanges exceeding the amount of 1 million lek, or its equivalent in foreign currency, in a single transaction or several related transactions.
Any transaction exceeding this limit must be carried out through bank accounts or payment accounts.
Also, during the licensing process, the Bank of Albania will also consult with the Financial Intelligence Agency, in addition to institutions that are already part of this process, such as the Financial Supervisory Authority, the Competition Authority, the State Police Directorate and the Tax Directorate.
The new regulation aims to strengthen control over foreign exchange activity, increasing financial transparency and helping to prevent money laundering./ skyweb
