During the first quarter of 2023, a total of 14,460 new vehicles were registered, of which 27 types of vehicles and 276 brands of vehicles, INSTAT reported.

The car fund expanded by 8% in January - March 2023 and as the data shows, "Volkswagen" has become the most favorite car of Albanians.

The "Volkswagen" brand is the brand with the highest circulation in the country in the category of new road vehicles with 20.4%, followed by the "Mercedez Benz" brand with 16.3%.

In the category of new road vehicles by type, the largest percentage of the total number of road vehicles is occupied by "Cars" (83.5%) and "Motorcycles" (6.8%).

The highest number of new road vehicles was registered in the District of Tirana, accounting for 39.4% of the total road vehicles registered in the country in the first quarter of 2023.

The counties with the smallest number of new road vehicles are Dibër county with 2.1% and Gjirokastër with 1.3% each of the total road vehicles.

For 2022, the monthly average number of vehicles registered for the first time is 5,152.

During the year 2022, sales for new cars have decreased, not only because of their price increase of 10 to 15%, but also because of the reduced number of their production for 2022, influenced by the lack of production parts.

On the other hand, sales companies add that in this period, more used cars are being sold, even in which there is an increase in price, but their price is considered inflated, influenced by the lack of new car brands.

From 2021, a new rule for technical control is being applied to cars that are registered for the first time. For these tools, it is determined that the technical control will be carried out 3 years after registration.

Until December 2021, according to the data of the Transport Service Directorate, the total number of active or temporarily deregistered vehicles was 740,669 vehicles, of which 593,280 are cars.

In the first quarter of 2023, the length of the road network in use is 3,606 km, classified according to different categories, such as highway, interurban or urban road and local road.
