Last night Gerti Bogdani was in a television studio. This morning in coffee with his friends. Tomorrow, friends and acquaintances will say their last goodbyes. He was 44 years old.
Known, but also unknown, friends and political opponents expressed regret for the sudden separation from life.
Gerti Bogdani's change of life reminds us of the imperfection and transience of life. As we wander our way, often caught up in the daily routine, Bogdan's cardiac arrest in addition to shock raises the age-old question: What is the meaning of life when it is so short? Is it worth all this effort, tension, stress, to achieve the "objectives" you have set for yourself?
Gerti Bogdani was an engaged man, a public personality who started a rich career in politics at a very young age. Educated in the USA, leader in the local government, leader of the Youth Forum in the DP, and even a career as a respected deputy, he seems to have found the meaning of life in public service.
But Gert's untimely departure shows that no matter how hard we try, none of us have control over the time we're given. The Hebrews say that if you want to make God laugh, tell him what your plans are for the future.
Bogdani, a young man you always met with his mouth on the gas, seemed to have his best days ahead of him. But the sudden separation reminds us that life does not depend only on our plans and ambitions.
Bogdan's untimely departure, beyond the great pain for family and friends, is an alarm bell for everyone, and especially for people engaged in public service.
This moment reminds us of a universal truth, accepted in the holy books in both the Koran and the Bible.
"By the time! Verily man is lost, except those who believe and do good deeds, and advise one another to truth and patience (Qur'an, 103:1-3).
In the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 says:
"Everything has its time and everything under heaven has its moment. There is a time to be born and a time to die, a time to sow and a time to reap.”
The meaning of life is one of the oldest and most profound questions that humanity has asked over the centuries.
The scriptures extend the meaning of life beyond material objectives!
The meaning of life is one of the oldest and most profound questions that humanity has asked over the centuries. The ancient Greeks sifted through the question and arrived at the answer: "seek happiness"
The lesson from the scriptures and ancient wisdom is clear: the meaning of life is not simply what we want/achieve, but in the good word, kindness and good name we leave behind.
Gerti Bogdani will be remembered as the man who never spoke a "bad word"
Death is one breath away, but one forgets...
