This question is not asked. It is senseless, rude and even ugly. Salary is a personal data, it is a very private thing and few people feel good when you ask them: how much do you earn?
There was a big uproar when the salaries were released last year and in unison people demanded accountability and justice. Businesses and not only them were worried because the employees learned how much each other was paid.
Today, something is happening that has never happened before, and I don't believe that there is any country in the world that makes a spectacle of the salaries of civil servants. A "madness" that is being sold as normality.
We have arrived at the day when we not only see the salary of teacher X, nurse y, midwife z, soldier ZZZ, but besides the salary we also see the smiling portraits of individuals.
For days, the social network of the prime minister and ministers has been making public what the salary was a year ago, how much it is today and how much it will be in a year?
The Jews have an expression: "if you want to make God laugh, tell me what your plans are for the future?"
Publishing salaries beyond the need of the day's propaganda can have multiple risks
First, people who are forced to go public may feel offended.
Second, it can create jealousy among colleagues because the salaries are not the same
Thirdly, you can risk their lives in the extreme case and put these people in an uncomfortable position because they easily become a target for "blackmail" or requests for "debt".
We need transparency of the lek, but not of salaries.
Any action that makes transparent how the money is spent is welcome. every ministry or municipality can put online all the expenses it makes, but no one needs to know how much the other person's salary is?
And the last: money does not fall from the sky. They are part of taxes collected or debts received. Raising wages automatically means lowering investment. But dealing with this seems like a luxury.
The issue of publishing every day the salaries teachers, nurses, cleaners, midwives, soldiers, policemen, etc. will receive next year is a problem not only for those who are forced to "give their face for propaganda", but for everyone.
Let there be transparency on how public funds are collected and spent, let there be transparency on the fight against corruption and salaries will be doubled without affecting investments, but also without taking the other's face.
