It had never happened (apart from the elections boycotted by the opposition in 2019), that the winner in the race for mayor of Tirana had the upper hand in all its administrative units.
Veliaj achieved this type of capillary victory on May 14. His lead over Këlliç of almost 60 thousand votes on May 14 was distributed 2/3 (almost 40 thousand) in the 11 former urban mini-municipalities of Tirana and 1/3 (almost 20 thousand) in its former rural municipalities.
In the original urban area (in the 11 former mini-municipalities) there was a strong statistical correlation between the size of the administrative unit and the superiority of Veliaj over Këlliç. More simply, the larger the unit, the larger the lead (see table below)
