Experts: Kosovo government is behaving like spoilt internationals

Institutions should be more attentive and very careful about the steps they take, with particular emphasis on regional developments, said Movement for Union party chairman Valon Murati.

Although he says that in some cases Kosovo has been unfairly pressured especially in relation to Serbia, it states that this circumstance should be used to strengthen reports especially with the US EU.

"We must be aware of Kosovo's position in international and special emphasis relations with regional developments. So we have to be very careful about the steps we take i'm talking about as Kosovo, as a state then normally as a government and as a policy. In this direction it often seems that Kosovo is under unjust pressure and in many directions it is," he told The Online Economy.

"I also say that we must be attentive to this position in which Kosovo is and humiliatingly to the fact that what we find to be privileged behavior towards Serbia is indeed a careful approach of the states of the European Union and the United States of America that as much as possible Serbia pulls it out of the orbit of the Russian interest and bring it closer to the western one of the EU, The United States, etc. We must analyse this situation and with compatibility with these circumstances to build our approach, our behaviour in relation to the EU and the United States, even in relation to Serbia, as well as in relation to our interests".

Murati sees the rejection of projects by internationals as wrong, he says that at least we should have given solutions, not just as "spoiled children", and finally seek the help of internationals.

"We have said no to many and many processes and we have never offered ways out of them, we have said no and this is very harmful. I'm never against saying no, but no, it has to be conveyed with an alternative offer of what to say no to. This certainly revolts and makes our partners both nervous and unbearable with us."

"We must not forget that a good part of the position we have in international relations even in the region and because of these reports we have with our partners. We must take care to cultivate them and not be like a spoiled child who says no, not and then at the end if something goes wrong, he asks for their help."

Political affairs connoisseur Abnor Sadiku in an interview for Economy Online said that internationals have recently had a critical approach to Kosovo, citing the failure to hold Serbian elections in Kosovo.

"We have recently had a say critical approach to Kosovo for the fact that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo has not allowed the April 3rd elections held in Serbia to be held on kosovo territory".

"Of course this has influenced let's say negatively in terms of Kosovo's image karshi its allies, but on the other hand not only for the fault of the Republic of Kosovo is happening because we have seen that in recent years even the European Union has not given any carrots let's say about the concessions Kosovo has made in relation to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and as i say the fault is two-way even for the approach As the EU said inconsistent towards Kosovo, but on the other hand some diplomatic errors of Kosovo in relation to international communities".

Sadiku says Kosovo is being pressured more than Serbia, eO reports.

But he stresses that this period is the "golden" opportunity for Kosovo's membership in international organisations such as NATO, the Council of Europe, etc.

“... We must look at the opportunities to say consistent in our demands, we must seek visa liberalisation, we must seek candidate status, membership in the Council of Europe and NATO, because I am now known that Russia does not have a good image in all international forums including the G20, the Council of Europe, NATO etc".

"It is a golden opportunity for Kosovo to be used to join these international mechanisms. But this in advance requires better coordination of the government of the Republic of Kosovo with the United States of America and the European Union. When I say a coordination, it means that we must adopt the gas line which the United States has requested, we must offer all the requirements that our international allies have asked especially the United States so that this can be returned to us as a positive contribution and membership in international organisations", reports the EO.
