The Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Olta Manjani, has announced that the possibility of accelerating the implementation of the increase in the retirement age, but not beyond the age of 67, is being discussed.

According to the 2014 reform, it is predicted that in 2056 there will be an equalization of the retirement age for men and women, which will be 67 years old.

Called to the hearing where the 2025 budget is discussed in the Economy Commission, Manjani said that the World Bank had proposed increasing the pension age, but this was opposed.

"One of the proposals of the World Bank has to do with the proposal for increasing the retirement age, but we opposed it. Since the pension increase was taken into account in the 2014 reform, the increase in the retirement age for women has now started. The increase in the retirement age for men will begin in 2032 and in 2056 it is predicted that there will be equalization of the retirement age for men and women, which will be 67 years old. We can discuss an acceleration of the implementation of the increase in the retirement age, but not an increase in itself beyond the age of 67", said Manjani.
