Two Canadair CL-415 firefighting aircraft of the Greek Fire Force are assisting in the operation to extinguish the big fire in Albania.
The planes, which will have their base at the airport of Corfu, are already on the Greek island from where they took off this morning.
The sending of the planes was warned by the authorities earlier, while it was also confirmed by the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, who wrote in a post:
Two Canadair aircraft have just started the intervention from the air to put out the flames in Dropull and Finiq.
Greek planes come as support for Albania through the European Civil Protection Mechanism and join the efforts of our Armed Forces, firefighters, civil emergency workers and local structures that have been fighting the flames there for 2 days.
Gratitude for the readiness shown to bring air vehicles to the Italian and Croatian governments.
The Greek media have given a great deal of space on their portals to the fire that broke out two days ago in the Dropulli area, which according to them continues to burn forest areas in an uncontrolled manner and threatens residential areas as well.
For several days, the Municipality of Dropulli and Finic have been facing massive fires, which have spread rapidly.
