Tirana police arrested 30-year-old Milena Deraj yesterday, after she took large sums of money from 3 citizens (family members), deceiving them that she would help them in a judicial process.

She managed to deceive Hasan Verracaku, Abedin Verracaku, Shyqyri Verracaku, with the claim that she would solve the case of the Velipoja massacre, taking the sum of 340 thousand euros from all three, promising to help them in the trial and to intervene to lower their positions.

As a former employee of the Bank of Albania, she also cheated a friend of hers, from whom she received the sum of 230,000 euros in exchange for treasury bonds. When her friend realized that she had been cheated and was not receiving the bonds in exchange for money, she went to the police to report the case.

Of course, Milena Deraj also relied on the strong political connections she had. It results in ties to the Government. It is reported that the 30-year-old worked in the Parliament of Albania, precisely the adviser of the socialist deputy Blerina Gjylameti.
