Marjan Kodheli, who killed his father with a knife, is left in prison.

The Durrës Court has remanded in custody 25-year-old Marjan Kedheli, who stabbed his father, 69-year-old Pjetër Kedheli, to death.

The serious domestic crime was committed in their apartment in the village of Shkallnur on October 28. The attorney assigned to the case has primarily requested a forensic assessment of the young man's mental health. 

Marjani stated that at one point, his father approached him and grabbed him by the throat. "I have done my days," his father is said to have told him, according to the 25-year-old's statement. 

"I felt trapped, I couldn't breathe," he said.

He then grabbed the knife he had closest to him and shot him. The 25-year-old, according to the Prosecution, testified that at that moment his mother intervened and then he ran out of the apartment. He returned after forgetting his phone and seeing that the knife had been removed.

"We regret the incident. Marjani still does not understand the actions he has committed. We request that a forensic psychiatric examination be conducted," says prosecutor Matilda Fetahu.
