Former judge of the Court of Appeal in Tirana, now a member of parliament for the Democratic Party, Gjin Gjoni, has stated that with the murder of his friend and colleague Astrit Kalaja, the Albanian state has fallen.
"This event is an alarm siren for the security situation in courtrooms, towards justice workers in particular, but also for the alarming level of the crime situation in Albania. With this event that occurred in the justice institution, the state has fallen," he writes.
Gjin Gjoni says that the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja is not only a personal tragedy for the Kalaja family, but a profound reflection of the failure of institutions to protect justice workers.
"Astrit Kalaja was a family man and model citizen, as well as a judge of high integrity, who served the law with honesty and dedication," writes Gjin Gjoni, now appealing as a legislator in the Assembly, for the government to take concrete measures for the safety of justice workers, because any attack on them is an attack on the state and the law.

However, a harsh reaction to this reaction of MP and former judge Gjin Gjoni was made on social networks by the much-loved actor of Albanian cinema, Astrit Çerma .

From America, where he has lived since 1997 when he left Albania with his family, " Commissioner Gjoleka " says that the state has fallen precisely because it did not put Gjin Gjon in prison but made him a member of parliament.
" The state has fallen since the moment a scoundrel like you was not put in prison but became a deputy. The state does not exist, because if it existed you would have been in prison along with your mayor, Sa-Le, and all your 35-year-old post-dictatorship scum who established laws for robbers and thieves like your face... ", writes actor Astrit Çerma./NewsBomb
