The Gjirokastra Prosecution has requested a 30-year prison sentence for citizen Thoma Mastora , accused of murdering an elderly couple in the village of Bodrishte, Dropulli.

At the conclusion of the investigations and judicial review for criminal proceedings No. 240 of 2024, the prosecution concluded that the defendant is guilty of the criminal offense of "Murder in other aggravating circumstances".

According to the Prosecution, Thoma Mastora is accused of the murder of spouses Kosta and Kleoniqi Ilia, a serious incident that occurred in the village of Bodrishte, in Dropull.

In the final session, the Prosecution at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra requested the defendant be found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The event took place on May 2, 2024 in the village of Bodrishte, Dropull Municipality, and shocked the entire country. The two elderly spouses, Kosta Ilia, 84 years old, and Kleoniqi Ilia, 88 years old, were found dead in their apartment by fellow villagers.

Kosta Ilia was found in the yard of the house, while his wife was inside the apartment, both with wounds to the head and body.

Initially, robbery was suspected, but investigations showed that there were about 5 million new lek in the apartment, which had not been touched.

This led police to rule out robbery as a motive. After several days of investigation, police arrested Thoma Mastore, 69, a fellow villager of the victims. According to the investigation, he had killed the elderly by hitting them with hard, sharp objects.

Police stated that the motive was related to previous conflicts and weak motives, not robbery. During the search of Mastore's apartment, combat ammunition, a cutting tool and other evidence were found. He had a previous conviction for theft.

Prosecutor's Office Announcement:

The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Gjirokastër, at the conclusion of the investigations and judicial review, requests 30 years in prison for citizen Th. M., accused of the criminal offense of 'Murder in other qualifying circumstances' provided for by Article 79/dh of the Criminal Code.

The investigations into criminal proceedings no. 240, of 2024, concluded that the defendant Th.M. is guilty and the Prosecution at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Gjirokastër, in presenting the final argument, requests his sentence of 30 years in prison for the murder of the elderly couple KI and KI, in the village of Bodrishtë, Dropull.

In addition, the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra expresses its full commitment to the investigation and legal accountability of persons who commit criminal offenses against life and health.
