Two UKT employees have been arrested after they stole 21.6 million lek from the Water and Sewerage company through duplicate salaries. 'Compulsory appearance' was assigned to 2 more employees.

The persons to whom security measures have been issued are UKT employees, who managed to steal 21 million lek through their salaries, are Sigi Zhuleku and Erblin Lushaj, who have been ordered to be detained in prison, and for Rudina Lalaj and Azem Xhaferri, the measures have been imposed submission obligation.

The measures have been executed by the Police of Tirana while the investigations continue to discover other persons involved in this scheme. The UKT employees are accused of "theft while abusing their duties".

Based on the material reported by the General Director of the company "Ujësjellës-Kanalizime Tirana" sh.a., the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana registered criminal proceedings no. 5652, dated 13.09.2023, for the criminal offense " Theft committed by abusing the duty" committed in collaboration, provided by article 135 - 25 of the Criminal Code in charge of citizens S.Zh., RL, EL and A.Xh.

The investigation began after the audit conducted by the economic office of the company "Ujësjellës-Kanalizime Tirana" sh.a Tirana, it was established that the citizen S.Zh, employed by this company as a specialist in the Taxation Sector in the Economic Directorate of this company, charged with the task of compiling and sending to the Bank the payroll for the salaries of the employees of this company, has duplicated the names of citizens S.Zh, RL, EL and A.Xh, who were employees of this company for the period of April 2018 - July 2023 causing damage in the total value of ALL 21,679,805.

Based on the request of the prosecution body with decision No. 3026, dated 23.12.2023, of the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, it was decided to assign the security measure "Arrest in prison" provided by article 238 of K. Pr. Criminal, for the citizens S.Zh and EL, while for the citizen: RL and the citizen A.Xh, the determination of the insurance measure "Compulsion to appear in the judicial police" provided by article 234 of K. Pr. Criminal.

For the above, the investigations continue under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance, General Jurisdiction, Tirana.'
