Trazhgim Maçi, a 27-year-old man arrested by the services of Police Station No. 1 in Tirana for robbing a taxi driver, turns out to be a serial thief. He has robbed the owners of several entities with cutting tools and the drivers of several taxis, in Tirana, Durrës and Fushë Krujë.

The young man had requested a taxi service in the Rinas area and asked the driver to take him to Elbasan. However, as soon as he arrived at the exit of Tirana, in the area known as "Palmanova" due to a business next to the highway, Trazhgim Maçi put an axe to the taxi driver's throat.

"I was just robbed with an axe and a pistol in front of Palmanova. I picked up someone as a passenger from Rinas and on the way he pulled out an axe and a pistol. The police did an incredible job. In 5 minutes they surrounded the neighborhood and in 15 minutes they arrested the person," the taxi driver told JOQ Albania.

The incident occurred yesterday and today, Tirana Police announced that immediately after being notified of a theft in a moving taxi on the "Tirana-Elbasan" road, where the passenger had threatened the driver with a cutting tool and taken a sum of money and the pendant he was wearing around his neck, the suspected perpetrator was arrested, who was located in the village of Qeha, near the area where he had committed the crime.

Further, within the framework of the codenamed "Taximetry" operation, in-depth investigations were conducted, with the objective of fully documenting the criminal activity of this citizen. The investigations suspect that 27-year-old Trazhgim Maçi:

- on 05.06.2026, in the Fushë Krujë market, he stole a sum of euros from a citizen's wallet;

- on 10.06.2026, in a business on "Llazi Miho" street, Tirana, through threat with a cutting tool, he stole a sum of money and a gold pendant;

- on 12.06.2026, by threatening with an object similar to a firearm, he stole the gold pendant worn by the owner of a subject on "Skënder Kosturi" street, Tirana, and punched this citizen;

- on 15.06.2026, in the village of Derven, Fushë Krujë, it is suspected that, by threatening with a cutting tool, he stole a sum of money, 2 mobile phones and 1 watch from a taxi driver;

- on 17.06.2026, in the village of Shënavlash, Durrës, he is suspected of having forcibly stolen a taxi driver's wallet with money and a cell phone.

The investigation continues to fully uncover and document the criminal activity of citizen TM, in the field of property theft/asset theft. The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
