Opposition to the new Territorial Reform proposed by the Socialist Party is taking on wider proportions. This Friday, residents of Memaliaj, Dimal and Klos protested against the changes envisaged in the new administrative-territorial map, while reactions were also noted in Përrenjas, Maliq and Poliçan.

In Memaliaj, citizens protested against the plan that envisages the merger of their municipality with the Municipality of Tepelena. Holding banners in their hands, they expressed concern that the removal of services and the concentration of administration in another center will increase their costs and make daily life more difficult.

In Dimal, dozens of residents also took to the streets to oppose the proposal to merge the Municipality of Dimal with the Municipality of Berat. According to them, this is a decision that does not reflect the interests of the community and was made without considering the needs of the residents.

"We must protect Dimal and not give him to others," said one of the protesters during the rally.

The protest also took place in Klos, where citizens opposed the draft map that envisages the merger of Klos Municipality and its unification with Mat Municipality. Earlier in the day, the Klos Municipality administration boycotted work for several hours in protest.

Residents demand that Klosi remain a separate municipality and state that such changes should not be approved without extensive consultation with the community.

The wave of protests was not limited to these three municipalities. Protests also took place in Përrenjas, Maliq and Poliçan.
