The last farewell has been given to the elderly couple, Kosta and Kleoniqi Ilia  , who were raped to death in their home in Dropull.

Kosta and Kleoniqi Ilia were escorted to their last home by relatives who came from Greece and fellow villagers in Bodrish i Dropulli, while their adopted daughter who lived in Athens also participated in the funeral ceremony.

A man and woman, respectively 84 and 86 years old, who lived alone, were found dead in their apartment on Thursday morning (April 2) and were buried together in a single grave.

The circumstances of the death of Kosta and Kleoniqi Ilia are still unclear, where domestic violence was initially suspected, since the apartment was not broken into. While a few hours after the crime, the police oriented towards the track of the murder. The alarm was given on the evening of May 1 by the victim's sister, Kloeniqi Ilia. After not being able to contact her sister on the phone, she notified her neighbor.

On the morning of May 2, the neighbor found the couple dead. Kloeniqi Ilia in the bedroom with signs of violence on his body, while Kosta Ilia with head wounds in the backyard. After inspecting the scene, seeing that there was no forced entry into the apartment, the police claimed that a fight might have taken place between them, even though both were elderly, namely Ilia 84 years old and Kleoniqi, 88 years old.

Also, from the control carried out by the police, they saw that Kosta had a lot of money in his pocket, since he was receiving a pension in the Greek state. But after intensive investigations and after the autopsy by forensic doctors, the police changed the track and conducted the first escorts.

The sources said that forensic doctors arrived from Tirana have proven that the wounds on the bodies of two elderly people were caused by hard objects and cutting tools.

There are 12 residents of the area escorted to the police station, as persons who may have knowledge of the brutal crime.

The police have not given any details about these people, while it is known that the investigations continue until the event is fully clarified. Meanwhile, Gjirokastra police are investigating the discovery of the killer as well as finding the cold weapon used in the crime.
