While talking about tourism in the country, the minister seems to have exaggerated a bit when she said that foreign tourists who used to go to Greece are now coming to Albania.

Albania is welcoming thousands of foreign tourists this season. The figures up to June have reached the flow of the whole year 2019.

The Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro, said that this year's season started in the spring.

Kumbaro added that a large number of tourists who previously chose Greece have now returned to Albania.

" Saranda was full of tourists, Vlora as well. I also visited Dhërmi, Durrës, Shengjin and saw that the hotels are full and booked until September 15. This year, unlike every other time, the peak started on June 15, a month ago. There is an increasing number of tourists and now we have caught the figures of 2019. In the last 3-4 years we have done a very big promotion for Albania. But it is not about the classic promotion. We have used new methods that go faster and in a more entertaining way to foreigners.

For example, last year one of the most famous reality shows in the Netherlands was recorded in Albania. From January 1 to March 15 this year, it was shown every Saturday on one of the most watched Dutch channels and was watched by 5 to 7 million viewers. This brought an increase in Dutch tourists to Albania this season.

We also have a large increase in the number of German tourists. This is because we have been very persistent in the German market. It's an interesting market and it pays. So he is the type of tourist who spends on vacations. It is also a market that culturally has many interests and this includes tourists who come to see nature, who do adventure sports, who come with motorbikes or those who come specifically for cultural tourism.

But we must say that there is a considerable part that comes because we are Mediterranean. It is very interesting that many tourists who were going to Greece have already returned to Albania" , said Kumbaro on Dritare TV.
