Drug trafficking by mail, 48-year-old American woman arrested, received packages

Tirana's anti-drugs unit has cracked down on a suspected case of narcotics trafficking through the postal service.

A 48-year-old American citizen with the initials Sh.I., who resided in our country, had ordered a package from the USA.

During the search, candies containing the suspected narcotic substance cannabis sativa in gelatin form were found, with a total weight of approximately 572 grams. The case was discovered at customs and then, in order to identify the recipient of the shipment, the police organized a controlled delivery.

An Anti-Drugs agent, disguised as a postman, delivered the package to the American citizen's address. After she received it, the agents intervened and arrested her in flagrante delicto.

During questioning, the American citizen stated that she had not ordered any illegal items and that the seized package was not ordered by her.
