From January 1, 2024, the Ministry of Finance intends to collect taxes also from individuals who generate income from foreign internet platforms.

This category, which until today had largely escaped taxation, includes all residents who earn from TikTok , Instagram , Facebook , YouTube , Google .

Bloggers in this way will be required to pay income tax at the rate of 15%.

Likewise, individuals who let their properties for daily rent on booking platforms such as Booking and AirBNB , as well as resellers or advertisers, who are paid by online trade platforms such as Amazon and Alibaba , will also be taxed .

The plan to identify these individuals, according to the new guidance of the Ministry of Finance and Economy , is based on the payments that these companies make to these individuals through bank accounts.

According to AirBNB data, over 16,800 active properties for daily rent operate in Albania , over 3,500 properties in Booking.

While a large number of influencers in Albania declare that they earn a staggering income from TikTok or Instagram.
