"Special" meetings in prison with Laert Haxhiu, Ziza Pajaziti says

Special meetings in prisons have been in the spotlight for several months in our country after it was alleged that famous showbiz girls have met prisoners in several institutions serving sentences. One of the most talked about reports was that between life-sentenced prisoner, Laert Haxhiu, and Kosovar model Ziza Pajaziti.

The latter, who appears to have entered the premises of the high-security Drenova prison in Korça on June 12 and 13, has testified to her entry into the prison, with the aim of meeting with Haxhiu. Pajaziti's questioning was made at the Korça Prosecutor's Office, which has been following the investigative case against a prison guard, Perent Lëng, and the former chief of the Drenova Prison Police, Sokol Koçelli, reports journalist Eltin Qyno.

Regarding this meeting, the prosecution was unable to obtain the full footage, as a letter provided by the prison stated that the footage from these dates was not available on the computer server, as it is only stored for a 7-day period and is then automatically deleted. Therefore, the investigations have focused on the testimonies of the "protagonists" of the event, Laert Haxhiu, Vladimir Kurti and Ziza Pajaziti.

Ziza Pajaziti testified: "...I am currently employed at "Well Farmaci", in the position of marketing manager in the city of Pristina, Kosovo. This is my second job, since my main job is modeling. In relation to the event for which I have appeared and am giving my explanations, namely the meetings I held with the convicted Laert Haxhiu on June 12, 2025 and June 13, 2025, on Thursday and Friday, I want to clarify that Laert Haxhiu and I have had a stable cohabitation relationship. We have formalized this relationship with documents, specifically with the Cohabitation Agreement, concluded before the notary Bledar Zake on October 6, 2025.

On June 12, 2025, I went to meet my roommate at the Drenova prison. After I presented myself at the entrance, at the checkpoint, they asked me who I was meeting and I gave the name of my roommate, Laert Haxhiu. After that, they provided me with a small sheet of paper, which I did not read to see what it contained. I left my personal belongings in the security safes and then continued towards a building inside the prison, where I was subjected to a personal search…”.

She further testified that according to her, the meeting with Haxhiu was family, not special as reported. The model from Kosovo also stated that since these days she has not gone to meet Laerti in prison, due to the "publicity" that this case received, and due to her serious psychological condition.

“…there I was accompanied by a police officer and, later, my cohabitant, Laert Haxhiu, was also accompanied to the same room, with whom I had a normal family meeting. That day I stayed in the city of Korça and the next day, on June 13, 2025, I went back to the Drenova prison. I followed the same procedure that I explained above and, this time too, at the checkpoint I gave the name of Laert Haxhiu. I did not know any other name of any convicted person and I want to emphasize that I am completely sure that I did not give any other name than the name of Laert Haxhiu.

I don't know what mistake could have happened, as I later read in the media. Then I continued the search procedure and entered the meeting room, where this time I was escorted to a room with a table and chairs, where we held a regular meeting and not a special meeting, as was written in the media, which surprised me a lot. After staying for a while, which I don't remember, I left the premises of the Drenova Prison and left...", Ziza Pajaziti told the prosecutor's office.

While Laert Haxhiu was also questioned, he said, among other things:

"...regarding the circumstances of how Ziza Pajaziti entered to meet me, I know nothing about the procedures followed by the prison administration in such cases. To my knowledge, this citizen, on the dates you are asking me about, entered normally, just like any other citizen who holds meetings with family members. No prison employee contacted me in advance, but they only accompanied me on these two dates to carry out the meeting.

I want to clarify that, on both of these dates, I entered the meeting, after being informed that I had a meeting and being accompanied for its development. In both of these cases, the meetings I held were ordinary meetings, that is, in a room with a table and chairs, and not special meetings, that is, meetings planned for spouses or cohabitants. I do not remember whether the rooms were equipped with cameras or not, as I remember that at that time the rooms were being reconstructed, specifically being painted…”.

Standing by his partner's statement again, he stated that:   "...I want to emphasize that everything has been normal and I have only had normal meetings with Ziza Pajaziti, who is currently my cohabitant, with a regular notarial declaration, and with whom I had an early relationship of acquaintance and cohabitation...".

On the other hand, Vladimir Kurti, whose name is suspected to have been in the documents that put Ziza Pajaziti in prison, was also questioned. Kurti stated: "...I do not know the Kosovar model Ziza Pajaziti and I have not met with this citizen. Also, I have not requested a meeting with her. I declare that I have not held family meetings for about 4 months...".
