SPECIAL/ Roma children in a street situation in Albania, the 13-year-old

Children who come from vulnerable groups such as Roma and Egyptians who are exposed on the streets, are also at risk of being trafficked outside of Albania, and even more at risk of being used for organ trafficking.

VoxNews met with Fariz, who we found in the area of ??the new boulevard in the capital, who is only 13 years old, and is forced to beg every day at the intersections of the capital to provide food for himself and 7 other family members.

He was forced to drop out of school to secure the little money, while he says that he emigrated abroad with his family for a few months, but after they returned to Albania, he started begging again due to his parents' financial inability.

Cases where trafficking is localized within the borders of Albania are increasing, while the challenge is for the institutions to crack down on this illegal activity.

Although fewer in number, cases of human trafficking abroad are also worrying.

Unicef ??data from an article published in February 2022:

Of the 30 survivor(s) interviewed, 27 (90%) were female and three (10%) were male.

Fourteen (47%) of the survivor(s) interviewed were children at the time of their exploitation. Four (13%) of the survivor(s) identified themselves as belonging to ethnic minorities (Roma and Egyptian), while the remaining 26 (87%) identified themselves as ethnic Albanians.

Of the survivor(s), 23 (77%) had been trafficked within the country (ie Albania), usually in major urban centers such as Tirana, and two (7%) had been previously trafficked.

Of the survivor(s), 23 (77%) were trafficked for sexual exploitation and seven (23%) for forced labor, including criminal activities and begging.

TRAFFIC IN THE PORT OF DURRS

16 people, all aged 17, from Kosovo tried to cross from the Port of Durrës on December 17, 2022 to Italy where they would then seek asylum.

The plan was well organized, as they were camouflaged as a football team, but their attempt failed after they were discovered in Durrës. 10 citizens from Kosovo who introduced themselves as trainers, physiotherapists and team assistants have been arrested.

From the investigative actions, it has emerged that the minors and their parents have given these citizens 3000-4000 euros to help the minors enter Italy, where it was suspected that they would then seek asylum in Italy.

Selling children for payment

The father, Embrah Nuredini, has been arrested, while the procedure for the pregnant mother has started in a free state.

Specialists for the Investigation of Illegal Traffic, DVP Durrës, arrested citizen Embrah Nuredini, 27 years old, resident of Durrës, in the act, and referred the materials to the prosecution, for Xh. H., 25 years old, for whom the criminal proceedings have started in a free state, the police announced.

On February 6, 2022, these two citizens appeared in a video broadcast during the investigative show "Fiks Fare", talking to another person, infiltrated by the staff of this show, to sell the baby that was being carried by the pregnant wife (Xh . H.), against the amount of 5000 euros.

The criminal offense that burdens the accused is "Trafficking of minors", pending. During the conversation, Emre Nuredini says that "my wife is 5 months pregnant, but we still don't know the gender of the child".

“Nëse bini dakord çdo vizitë që do kryhet do jeni të pranishëm” shprehet babai shitës.

Article 128/B in the Penal Code foresees severe penalties for traffickers. Recruiting, selling, transporting, transferring, hiding or receiving minors for the purpose of exploitation of prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, slavery or forms similar to slavery, use or transplantation of organs, as well as other forms of exploitation, are punished with imprisonment from ten to twenty years.

Organizing, directing and financing the trafficking of minors is punishable by imprisonment from ten to twenty years.

When this offense is committed in collaboration or more than once, or is accompanied by the mistreatment and coercion of the injured party with physical or mental violence, to perform various actions, or brings serious health consequences, it is punished with imprisonment of not less than fifteen years.
