The two persons arrested on May 6 for defrauding businessmen from whom they demanded large sums of money, used the name of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj , in order to embezzle 100,000 euros from entrepreneur Ram Geci .

It is known that he received a message on Telegram from an English number where the sender asked for 100 thousand euros and introduced himself in the name of the current mayor of Tirana.

"I'm lazy, you know how I'm doing these days, do you have a chance for 100?", the message says.

But apparently the businessman did not fall prey to this fraud and immediately reported to the police. Under the supervision of the prosecutor of the case, law enforcement agents continued communications with the fraudsters in order to catch them at the moment of handing over the money.

For this reason, the investigation group sent the authors a message saying " I don't have 100, but 70 to do the work "?

The fraudsters have expressed their agreement, making a meeting on May 6 to receive the monetary amount, but at this moment, the police forces who were on standby intervened and arrested the mother and son in flagrante delicto, while they announced the search for Florian Gjergjin  , i who is suspected of being the mastermind behind this fraud scheme.

The Tirana court imposed the measure of "imprisonment" for Bedri and Albert Vodha , while during the session the two defendants denied the charges.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, such fraudulent schemes, where the authors adopt the names of high state officials, have also been used against other businessmen before, such as Pëllumb Salillari.

The prosecutor's office suspects that behind this group is one or several other people who are suspected of being the organizers of such plans to threaten businessmen.
