A man with a baby in his arms appeared at the weekend near the Orphanage in Durrës, stating that he found the baby on the street.

After that, the police immediately started investigations, which resulted in the fact that the baby, a two-month-old girl, was left by her mother on the side of the road in the Golem area.

The investigations led to the identification of the baby's mother, a 22-year-old woman who, although residing in Tirana, gave birth to the child in the Durrës maternity hospital.

Wanted by the Kavaja police for the criminal offense of "abandoning minors", 22-year-old Roma Denada Sula was caught by the police and declared that it is impossible to raise her child. Top Channel learns that the young mother has an open court case for the same criminal offense in the Court of Durrës. At the end of December last year, she abandoned her two children, namely a 3-year-old boy and a 9-month-old girl, near the court. At that time, she was pregnant with her third child, who was born underweight in the Durrës maternity hospital, to have the same fate as her sister and brother.

The baby, who is 2 months old today, is in the pediatrics department of the Durrës hospital, where she is undergoing various health tests, and then, with the decision of the Social Service, she will move to a new home, the Baby Home.

In recent years, child abandonment is a growing phenomenon. Economic difficulties remain the main factor for relinquishing parental responsibilities for raising children, but this is an action punishable by law and society. Our penal code provides for a fine or imprisonment of up to 3 years for the abandoning parent, and in cases where the abandonment has had consequences on the health or life of the minor, the punishment goes up to 10 years in prison. In the court of Durrës there have been no shortage of punishments for this criminal offense, decisions that have been given mainly for abandoning mothers.
