SPAK has closed the investigations into Prime Minister Edi Rama's brother, Olsi Rama, saying that no evidence has been found for his involvement or that of other persons who have not been prosecuted so far, in the cocaine laboratory in the village of Xibraka.
The investigations resumed after the administration of a tip-off sent by MP Gazment Bardhi, who alleged Olsi Rama's involvement in illegal activities. He said that Olsi Rama had been "protected" by previous investigators who had identified him only by his initials.
Even the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, repeatedly and publicly repeated these accusations, claiming that Olsi Rama had traveled several times within and outside the country with the people arrested for the cocaine laboratory in Xibraka.
"The investigations have resulted in no evidence or facts linking citizen Ols Rama to the criminal activity, for which several individuals have previously been convicted. Also, no other possible perpetrators of the criminal offenses in question have been identified," SPAK reports.
The statements of Bardhi, who decided not to file a report with SPAK, but to submit evidence, sparked a strong public clash between him and Prime Minister Edi Rama, who accused the DP MP of defamation and said that he had deliberately not filed a report to avoid a defamation lawsuit.
