US President Donald Trump's Peace Council will hold an inaugural meeting in Washington today, where it aims to advance the reconstruction of Gaza.
The meeting comes nearly four months after the Trump administration brokered a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that allowed for the release of all remaining Israeli hostages.
Since then, however, both sides have accused each other of almost daily ceasefire violations, and hundreds of Palestinians have been killed, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.
While the US is calling Thursday's meeting an inaugural meeting, members of the Peace Board met last month in Switzerland for a signing ceremony on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
