Communications secured by the encrypted platform SKY ECC have revealed new details about how members of an international cocaine trafficking criminal network managed and hid their staggering profits.

According to sources close to SPAK, in conversations held in August 2020 between brothers Isa Aliu and Shpëtim Aliu, also known by the nickname "Salvadore", there is talk of millions of euros in money obtained from criminal activity. In one of the communications, Isa Aliu states that he had around 6 million euros in cash at his disposal.

Just a few days later, Shpëtim Aliu communicates to his brother that another 20 million euros were expected to be secured, while also discussing with him ways to hide large sums of money. According to the investigation, one of the methods used was to bury the money in the ground, placed in plastic barrels with a capacity of 50 liters.

From the verifications carried out, SPAK suspects that Isa Aliu received at least 30 million euros from his brother and that this money was then invested mainly in the construction sector.

The revelations are part of the extensive investigation that led to the Special Prosecution's crackdown on the criminal group, while authorities are continuing verifications to trace assets and identify suspected investments made with money suspected of originating from drug trafficking.
