"The scene I saw was one of the worst" - Journalist reveals details of

Igli journalist Çelmeta recounted the dramatic moments he experienced just three minutes after arriving at the scene of the tragic Berat-Tirana bus accident, where the driver lost his life and 12 people were injured.

According to him, the scene he witnessed was one of the most harrowing of his career. Passengers were trapped inside the bus, surrounded by metal barriers, while screams and cries for help could be heard.

"It was one of the most serious events, the most serious accidents that have occurred in recent years in our country. Yesterday I was together with my two colleagues, Stivi Meshini and Fatjon Nurçellari, and in the first moments on the highway returning from Durrës to Tirana, we noticed a slightly heavy traffic.

At that moment, a source in the State Police wrote to me that an accident had occurred. I thought it was a normal accident like what happens every day in our country. When we got closer, we saw the accident, it was right in front of our eyes. It had just happened.

"It had been three or four minutes since the serious accident had occurred and it was a chaotic situation. What was most shocking were the calls and the first images of the mutilated citizens, so they were very serious images ," he said on A2.

The journalist reported that local residents and passersby immediately committed to providing first aid, while ambulances faced difficulties arriving due to heavy traffic on the Tirana-Durres highway.

"Local residents, passersby were providing first aid to the injured citizens, passengers, who were trapped inside the bus. It was a very serious situation, panic as well as psychologically as the passengers, citizens who were inside the bus were screaming, shouting, asking for help to help, but they were unable to do so because it is very difficult to get them out of the bus in such a serious condition and the place where the bus had fallen had difficult terrain to intervene and get the passengers out."

But there were brave passers-by, and even a resident who was a resident of the area ran home and called his daughter, who was a doctor, to provide first aid to the citizens and passengers as much as she could. The state police arrived at the scene immediately, even very quickly. Meanwhile, the emergency ambulance service was actually delayed due to heavy traffic and this brought about a collapse, a great panic among all of us and we were asking for help.

Çelmeta indicated that, together with the operators, he immediately began reporting to raise awareness among the authorities and accelerate the intervention of emergency services.

"In the first moments after it was seen that first aid was being given to citizens, my two colleagues, Stivi Meshini and Fatjon Nurçellari, turned on the cameras, we raised the drone, reporting the scene in a professional manner without providing images that are outside professional ethics. Then there were serious images. We broadcast the event immediately as quickly as possible so that the authorities could react since it was a very serious event and those people trapped there on the bus were seeking first aid."

Preliminary investigations suspect that the 36-year-old bus driver suffered a sudden health problem while driving, which may have caused him to lose control.

"Regarding the circumstances of the accident, it is suspected that the bus driver, 36-year-old Redion Hasimi, according to the information and communications I have had with the investigative group, as the latter have questioned eyewitnesses, passengers on the bus, who are in better health and have stated that shortly before the accident, it is suspected that the driver signaled them.

So the passengers were in poor health. So there was a fainting state, a health collapse, and it is suspected that this contributed to the accident, since the preliminary examination showed that he was in the lane of the road, that is, on the main road, and then he deviated to the right side into the emergency lane and did not brake.

There are no signs of braking, which indicates that the health problem he had did not give him the opportunity to brake and reduce speed since the speed was a bit high since the collision with the barriers is strong. The metal barrier almost tore through the entire bus on the left side of the bus. The passengers on the right side escaped."
