Russian-Albanian wrestler  Chermen Valiev  was declared champion with the colors of Albania at the European Championship held in Bratislava.

In the final, Valiev defeated Russian Zaurbek Sidakov , while the moment of awarding the medals was a real scandal.

The President of the Russian Wrestling Federation and Vice-President of the World Wrestling Federation,  Mikhail Mamiashvili , at the moment of handing over the Gold medal to the Albanian champion Chermen Valiev, as European Champion for Albania, made a scandalous gesture, exerting force while placing the medal around his neck and then pushing it away with his hands.

During this moment, the word ' traitor ' was also heard for Chermen Valiev, who chose to compete for Albania.

 We recall that in this event Russia competed as a neutral state, as this country has many restrictions following the years-long attack in Ukraine.
