Ten people, part of a criminal group for the trafficking of narcotics, were arrested, after the operation developed by the Guardia di Finanza, in cooperation with the American DEA, which started the day before.
From the checks , 72 kilograms of cocaine, which is suspected to have come from Ecuador, were found and seized at the port of Civitavecchia. While in a villa in Rome, a marijuana plantation was found.
In addition, the purchase from Spain of over 50 kg of hashish of the "pollen" type, as well as several episodes of the wholesale sale of narcotics for over 30 kg of marijuana, has been documented.
The criminal group, composed of Albanian and Italian citizens, directed and carried out the distribution of narcotics in Rome. Eight of the arrested were left in prison, one under house arrest, while another was ordered to appear. Among them, criminal offenses include drug trafficking and production, illegal production, possession of weapons, possession of false identification documents, theft of electricity. The police seized firearms, including Kalashnikovs or shotguns.
According to the authorities, the organization relied on a significant number of "employees" who were responsible for managing drug trading centers, carrying out violent actions, in order to maintain control of the market in the face of infiltration attempts by rival factions.
