The President of the Supreme Court, Sokol Sadushi , requested the unblocking of the salaries of judges and the judiciary administration and the settlement of arrears.
Sadushi stated that the situation must end immediately and the decision of the Constitutional Court must be respected.
"The Constitution is not negotiable," said the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Sadushi: Despite the differences we may have on the concrete methods and means, we are united. The freezing of salaries is unacceptable and must end immediately. The decision of the Constitutional Court must be implemented immediately. These meetings were not called to express only our dissatisfaction, but to defend a principle: no power or administrative body can condition or relativize the decision of the Constitutional Court. We must show the determination, but also the responsibility that distinguishes us as judges. The courts must continue to function. The strength of our position is not measured by the number of sessions that are not held, but by the ability to use the means given to us by law to the end. Today's meeting has clearly expressed the request for the immediate unblocking of salaries, the immediate start of the settlement of arrears. Administration employees cannot carry problems on their shoulders that they did not create. We must emerge from this meeting united not only in the request, but in the way we defend it. "Our position requires that the state function according to its own rules. We demand that everyone respect their own competencies. After this meeting, no one can say that the judges did not speak. We will continue to serve the citizens. The Constitution is not negotiated. The final decision is not suspended. Salaries must be unblocked, the decision must be implemented and this situation must end immediately," said Sadushi, also declaring the end of the judges' meeting.
