A wave of dissatisfaction has engulfed nurses regarding the latest salary increase scheme, which they say creates significant inequalities between staff with different work experience.

According to the complaint received by the VoxNews editorial office , nurses with 2 years of experience receive an increase of about 16 thousand old lek, while those with 6 years of work receive about 20 thousand old lek .

For those with less than 10 years of experience, the increase is estimated at around 0.6%, while for those under 20 years, around 0.8%.

Meanwhile, nurses with over 20 years of work benefit from a 1% increase, which translates into over 100 thousand lek net more per month.

Those with over 30 years of experience are reported to have benefited from 150 to 200 thousand old lek additional net.

Younger nurses consider this scheme unfair, arguing that most of them are in the most difficult period of their financial lives, with children to raise, schools to pay for, and loans or houses to buy.

They emphasize that the need for a salary increase is immediate, due to rising prices and the cost of living.

"We cannot wait another 20 years to benefit from significant growth, when today we face real economic difficulties," they say.

Also, in the same job position, the differences between colleagues with long experience and younger ones reach over 100–150 thousand lek net per month , which, according to them, demotivates staff and encourages them to leave the healthcare system.

Currently, the salary of around 640 thousand old lek is considered insufficient to cover living expenses.

Nurses are calling for an immediate review of the salary increase scheme, stressing that the assessment of experience is important, but should not deepen inequalities and leave behind those who are most in urgent need of financial support.
