Protest for Divjaka Park, Tare: It is insulting that residents are asked to pay,
Auron Tare

Protests and clashes with the Police were registered this morning by the residents of Divjaka against the paid entrance to the Divjaka-Karavasta National Park. The Ministry of Tourism in a reaction after the protest said that it is about a ticket that costs 50 lek and will be applied only to tourists and the residents of the area are excluded from it.

Regarding these developments, a reaction has come from researcher Auron tare, who says that both sides are right.

In a post on social networks, he writes that for every act that will be carried out in the park, the approval of the residents must be obtained, since according to him, any arrogant action coming from the "center" cannot have longevity in the field.

Tare says it's insulting to ask local residents to pay, but he says a fee for visitors to the area is mandatory.

He brings to attention the case of Butrint Park as a starting point for finding a solution. According to Taras, in the Park of Butrint there was a lot of discussion about the setting of the payment, until an agreement was reached on a very low price.

Auron Tara's reaction:

For a sticker! How to avoid a useless collision with the residents of the Divjake National Park.

Today, from dreary and rainy Boston, I was watching footage of residents clashing with the police over an issue that is basically right from both "warring" sides, the local residents and the institution that guards and protects the National Park. First, Divjake National Park is an important local asset. For this reason, the approval of the residents for every act carried out in this area is very important.

As a person who worked to create a National Park, today very successful, I know from long experience that any arrogant action coming from the "center", whoever it is, cannot have longevity on the ground. Local residents are the key to the success of any action and "modernization" in such areas. As part of the historical landscape of this park, it is insulting that local residents are asked to pay to enter an area that has historically been part of their habitat. so I am 100% with the residents who refuse to pay that "tax" to enter a habitat that belongs to them.

I can say, for example, the financing of water tanks for cattle, the creation of tourist trails in the Park. wooden bridges in drainage canals, fences to protect olive groves from bagetites, etc. I hope that anyone who reads these lines and is a resident of the areas near Butrint remembers these small but very important works. All this explanation to say that there is no reason to create clashes with the residents for such an issue when they can very well be the strongest supporters of the causes of protecting the Parks. After all, who protects these Parks, the local residents or the next bureaucrat who sits in that chair where he often has no idea why he is sitting there?
