The country's former president, Ilir Meta, has addressed the Tirana Court following the Tirana Prosecutor's Office's decision not to initiate criminal proceedings against the employees of Detention Center 313.
Meta has opposed the prosecutor's decision to close the verifications regarding his complaint, in which he denounced the employees of the prison institution for abuse of office.
In his complaint, he alleged that the detention center employees had abused their duty in the way they treated him during his detention, as well as in preventing his communication.
After the verifications carried out, the Tirana Prosecutor's Office did not hold anyone criminally liable and closed the case.
Meta has requested the Tirana Court to overturn this decision and order the prosecution to continue the investigations.
The case will be reviewed by Judge Vjollca Sahiu, who will decide whether the investigations will be reopened or whether the prosecution's decision will remain in force.
