The amount of 18 million euros in the name of Francesco Zummo, the Italian businessman connected with the mafia that is suspected to be cleared through a transfer that was being carried out in Albania, has been put in a second seizure, this time at the request of the Italian authorities.
According to TV Klan, the Prosecution of Palermo, the Antimafia sector, through a letter sent to the SPAK, asked the latter to place it in preventive seizure on behalf of a decision given by the Italian court. The request of the Italians was accepted in March by the GJKKO and the sequestration decision was executed.
Earlier in November, the Special Prosecution Office blocked the account following an ongoing investigation into hydrocarbon businessman Rezart Taçi and his two close associates, Artur Balla and Bledar Lilo.
The three persons, led by Taçi, are suspected of having undertaken the transfer of 18 million euros benefited from Zummo's criminal activity to Switzerland, in order to clean it up.
The monetary amount is already considered by the two Prosecutions as a product of criminal offenses being investigated in two parallel property proceedings.
