Possession of pornographic materials with minors, pedophile arrested in Tirana

A 29-year-old man has been arrested by the Police in Tirana for possessing pornographic materials featuring minors.

The Cybercrime Investigation Directorate says he was wanted as part of the international "Stream" operation with the cooperation of several law enforcement agencies and Europol, and extended to several EU countries.

Dozens of people were arrested in various EU countries during this operation and hundreds of thousands of pieces of child pornography were destroyed. This group operated online on various communication platforms.

The Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes investigates a case of dissemination of pornographic materials involving minors.

Following the intensive work to prevent and combat criminal activities in the field of cybercrime, the Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes has executed the decision of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, for the arrest of citizen MZ, 29 years old, resident of Tirana, for the criminal offense of "Pornography", with minors.

The arrest was carried out as part of the international police operation codenamed “STREAM”, against the sexual exploitation of minors on the Internet, with the participation of law enforcement agencies from 35 countries, including the State Police. The operation was conducted under the direction of the Bavarian State Criminal Police and the Bavarian Central Office for the Prosecution of Cybercrime (ZCB), as well as with the support of EUROPOL.

Following information received from German police authorities and EUROPOL, the Cybercrime Investigation Directorate, in cooperation with the Special Operations Force Directorate, carried out investigative and procedural actions that led to the identification and arrest of citizen MZ.

As part of its commitment to protecting children and minors from online abuse, the Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes invites citizens, parents and young people to report any suspected case of distribution, production or consumption of pornographic materials involving minors, as well as any other form of online sexual abuse, to the following communication channels:
