Air traffic in Albanian airspace is temporarily suspended. The cause is suspected to be a technical problem in the Albcontrol radar system, causing disruptions in air traffic monitoring.
Two flights that were expected to land at 6:45 p.m. have been diverted.
For several minutes, as a security measure, no aircraft was allowed to fly in Albanian airspace, while takeoffs and landings were temporarily suspended.
The system outage may cause delays in departures and arrivals at Tirana International Airport, as well as delays for aircraft in flight. Depending on the duration of the problem, there may also be schedule delays or temporary flight diversions.
Sources indicate that work is underway to normalize the system and restore air traffic to normal.
The temporary suspension has been taken for safety reasons, as the full functioning of monitoring systems is essential for navigation and ensuring the safe separation of aircraft in airspace.
It is expected that with the return of systems to full function, air traffic will gradually resume and the situation at Rinas Airport will normalize.
